Today, on the 8th of October 2022 the downfall of Russia started. For Putin, the Kerch bridge represents what Stalingrad did for Hitler.
The start of the downfall. We all know how Hitler's war ended.
With the destruction of the bridge over the Kerch straight the ability to move men and necessary supplies for the Russian army disappeared.
I read this evening, that the Russians claim that the bridge is partly open again, however, heavy vehicles must take the ferry though. The navy fleet in Sevastopol is moved to the Russian mainland. No more Russian planes in airports in Crimea.
This morning I talked with Crimea after the blast. No money in the ATM, no food to buy. Little or no gasoline is available.
It was easier to buy a used car than get warm clothes for your children.
Already at 07:00 Norwegian time, scared Russians tried to escape from Crimea to Russia, and since the bridge was unusable, they started waiting for the ferry. At 7 in the morning, it was perhaps a 2 km queue for the ferry in Kerch and piling up. Only one problem. The ferry is not working. So how to get back to Russia? You have to drive from Kerch more than 500 km. Little or no fuel available. They will have to drive along the north side of the Azov sea, where they have bombed and destroyed everything. No gas stations, no roadside cafes and CNN probably sending live from the escape and showing us all that they have done.
Through the city of Mariupol and then through more rubble and destruction if they manage to reach Russia. They will be bombed and shot at. Followed to the border. They may use ships for logistics!! you may say. Using vessels for the transport of supplies instead of trains and trucks is a different ball game altogether. More complex logistics and we know now that Russians and logistics do not work.
Supplying the Russian forces in Crimea will be very difficult and the Russian troops in Kherson will be close to impossible. A stroke of genius by the Ukrainian forces.
Putin has named a new general head of the Russian forces in Ukraine. General Sergei Vladimirovich Surovikin. But even he cannot repair the bridge, he can scream and yell and order, but nothing will change the fact that the Russians are more or less trapped where they are, their back against the wall.
Therefore I declare 8th of October 2022 as the day the Russians started to lose the war.
